Technology

PAC funds the computer lab, including a computer instructor, equipment, software and technical support. In 2008, PAC purchased 46 new iMac computers. Every student, K–6, visits the computer lab once per week to gain computer and research skills.

Tools for Learning

PAC funds pay for tools essential to our teachers and students, such as copy machines, classroom computers, and workbooks. PAC transformed a storage room into a Science Resource room and stocked it with hands-on science instructional supplies. PAC has also assisted the PTA in its support of the Junior and Senior Chorus and the Literacy Lab.

Choral Program

PAC funds our fabulous School Choral Program. Mrs. Sally Dworsky teaches chorus on Fridays to grades 1-6. There are two choral performances at Fremont every year. One is the Winter Concert, held in December during the school day and the second is the Spring Sing held on a Friday evening in June. Parents and families are welcome to both performances

Large Equipment

PAC purchased both of the play structures on the upper and lower fields and funded the large marquee in front of the school.

Library

PAC assists our PTA-funded school library, by buying books through its Adopt-a-Book program. All students visit the library once a week, participate in grade-appropriate activities with the librarian, check out books and conduct research.

Grants

Each year Fremont teachers are given grants from PAC. These grants fund all kinds of special events, field trips, supplies, software, special assemblies and other things that our excellent teachers feel will help support their classroom activities. PAC grants fund our popular 4th Grade Gold Rush Days and 5th Grade Colonial Day.

Holiday Teacher Gifts

Every year at Christmas time, PAC buys each teacher a gift for their classroom. Last year, we bought all the teachers printers for the computers. This year we will probably do a Christmas tree in the staff lounge and ask each teacher to put their "wish" on a paper ornament. These ornaments will decorate the tree and also give us a big hint as to what each teacher needs for their classroom.

PAC-Sponsored Events

Kindergarten BBQ

PAC sponsors a BBQ for the families of Fremont’s kindergartners shortly after school begins each year. PAC supplies the food and fun. It is an opportunity for our “new” Fremont families to meet other parents and have the chance to ask veteran parents any questions about Fremont, PAC, PTA, etc…

Sponsor-A-Book

This is a PAC program developed to get new books into Fremont’s library each year. PAC purchases new, library-bound books which are chosen by the school’s Librarian. Fremont families are then given the opportunity to sponsor library books by choosing a book to sponsor and paying for its cost through PAC. Anyone sponsoring a book gets a nameplate placed in the sponsored book as recognition. Sponsor-A-Book forms are available in the school office and in front of the display case in the front hall.

Staff Luncheon

This is a luncheon put on by PAC to thank our fabulous Fremont staff for its countless hours of hard work and dedication. Fremont staffers receive an invitation for this event (usually scheduled on Valentine’s Day), the staff lounge is decorated, and volunteers from PAC and the school bring the food for the luncheon. PAC members do the setting and cleaning-up. This is a great event that is much appreciated by our staff. Volunteer opportunities will be available for the luncheon. See the weekly “Dateline” for details starting January.
